My Prayer Time

I have felt compelled for some time to share my prayers and talks with God with others. That is what this blog is for, and I hope God belsses you with these words. Of course, I would love to hear from others as well.

Live At Peace

Hello all. I hope your day and your week have been blessed!

Something happened to me this morning...

I had just finished praying and reading a little in the Word of God when I decided to read a little further into the next chapter. It was Ephesians 4:1-3, which was a little different than what I was reading, but I did my best to take the passage to hart.

Then, I decided to read a daily devotional that I get emailed to me and the opening passage was "If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with every one."
(Romans 12:18, Amp). The whole devotional was about giving praise to God instead of criticizing other people.

Interesting… Both the topic of what I read and the topic of the devotional were on the same subject, so I decided to take this as a sign from God. I believed the Holy Spirit was trying to tell me something.

Actually, it didn’t take much for me to realize that God was showing me something because I have a bit of a problem with being a little harsh with my words. I know I have hurt people I care about with the things I’ve said. This cannot be and I am focusing on this and taking it seriously.

Here are a couple more passages of Scripture from my devotional: Ephesians 4:26-32, Ephesians 5:1-4

I'm back

It's been a long time since I added a post and I have no excuse. Things have been well, but not as well as they can be. I'm still striving to be the man of God wants me to be, but by the grace of God, I will grow up soon. :)

Here is a piece of Scripture for your enjoyment. I hope it strengthens your faith as it does for me.

Psalm 103 [A Psalm] of David. (Amplified Bible - AMP)

1 BLESS (AFFECTIONATELY, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!

2 Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits--

3 Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases,

4 Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;

5 Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle's [strong, overcoming, soaring]!

6 The Lord executes righteousness and justice [not for me only, but] for all who are oppressed.

7 He made known His ways [of righteousness and justice] to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel .

8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and loving-kindness.

9 He will not always chide or be contending, neither will He keep His anger forever or hold a grudge.

10 He has not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great are His mercy and loving-kindness toward those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe].

14 For He knows our frame, He [earnestly] remembers and imprints [on His heart] that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

16 For the wind passes over it and it is gone, and its place shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, and His righteousness is to children's children.

An Awesome Witness

What do you think the world would say if more Christians would share things like how they were delivered from drugs or healed from cancer or brought out of a financial crisis? Wow! How could a person ignore such an awesome testimony of God’s goodness, especially if that person was hearing these things from more than one Christian?

I meet so many Christians that seem to deny the power of God, not right out, but more subtly with their words and actions. And their lives seem to suffer from it. I freely admit I do this more often than I want. I’ve seen God do so many great things in my life over the years. I wonder how many more things I could share with others if I would have had the right attitude?

Another thing I don’t understand is when I do not share with others when God does great things in my life. Why would I want to hide something like this? Yet I do. I have done this more times than I can remember.

I hope that God would change me so that I would conduct myself in such a way as to honor God with my words and actions, and I hope he would change me so that I would not pass up the opportunity to share with other.

High Priest of Your Confession

I read one of my devotionals today and had to pass it on. I am very guilty of speaking words based on feelings rather than on faith. Please read this and meditate on what it says.

My Calling

I haven't read 2 Peter 1:2-11 in a while, but I should read it every day. Why? Because it talks about something out that I struggle with. When I read this passage again today, the truth contained in it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I often times think about my calling in different terms other than things like adding goodness to my faith and being self-controlled and showing brotherly kindness, but these things are so important in the life of a Christian.

Verse 10 and 11 list some cool benefits for following what's spelled out in this passage. There's a lot more to it though. I wonder just what kind of person I would be if I did my best to live the way it says in verses 5-8.

Read for yourself, enjoy and really meditate on this passage!

2 Peter 1:2-11:

2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Put the Word into action

I read Matthew 7:17-27 today and I was convicted. I have not put the Word of God into action as much as I should have in recent days. I read the Word, I listen to the Word, but if I am not doing the Word, what's the point? Thank God for His conviction and correction.
