My Prayer Time

I have felt compelled for some time to share my prayers and talks with God with others. That is what this blog is for, and I hope God belsses you with these words. Of course, I would love to hear from others as well.

Who Makes Your Decisions?

I was reading my devotional today and was reminded of my need to be utterly dependent on God for all things in my life. I have made the mistake in the past of not going to God 1st when I was in need of direction. God, through His Word and through prayer, should always be sought out; we should always humble ourselves before Him and submit ourselves to His will.

In 1 Chronicles 14:8-17, David went to God, not once, but twice seeking God for guidance when he was faced with the decision to march out against an army. In the end, God brought victory to David, and in verse 17 it says that the fame of David went out all the lands and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.

When we truly seek God’s guidance, He delivers us and He is glorified.

I like this verse:

“'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'” (Jeremiah 33:3, NIV). The Amplified Bible says it like this: “Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).”

I am also reminded if what it says in James 4:13-16 (AMP).

“13 Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a city and spend a year there and carry on our business and make money.’14 Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen tomorrow. What is the nature of your life? You are [really] but a wisp of vapor (a puff of smoke, a mist) that is visible for a little while and then disappears [into thin air]. 15 You ought instead to say, If the Lord is willing, we shall live and we shall do this or that [thing]. 16 But as it is, you boast [falsely] in your presumption and your self-conceit. All such boasting is wrong.”

I have had major trouble with this in the past and still do from time to time now. It is so easy to do things I want to do when I want to do them and in the way I want to do them in. I have been a very self-reliant person.

Praise God if we humble ourselves before the Lord, He will lift us up (James 4:10, 1 Peter 5:6). Praise God that His grace is sufficient for us and that His power is made perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

In Christ,
