My Prayer Time

I have felt compelled for some time to share my prayers and talks with God with others. That is what this blog is for, and I hope God belsses you with these words. Of course, I would love to hear from others as well.

It’s Cool In The Shade

I live in Arizona and it gets HOT in the summer here. Unfortunately, every year people die from heat exposure. Most of the people who perish do so because they simply did not take the heat of the sun seriously. They didn’t drink enough water and spent too much time in direct sunshine. It’s absolutely amazing how much cooler it can be in the shade. I’ve experienced this many times over the years. Most of the time you can immediately feel the temperature drop.

This came to mind the other day when I was reading Psalm 91. I have this Psalm up on one of my bathroom mirrors and try to read it often. The first verse says that anyone "who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."

Up until the other day I breezed by this verse, but now it means a little more to me. I often think of the people who perished in the heat and wondered how many of them would have survived if they would have just spent some time in the shade. We are in a war and prolonged fighting can take its toll. Exposure to the elements of life can take its toll. Spiritually speaking, it’s absolutely vital to take some time out and rest in the shadow of the Almighty. My goal is to do this very thing on a regular basis.
