My Prayer Time

I have felt compelled for some time to share my prayers and talks with God with others. That is what this blog is for, and I hope God belsses you with these words. Of course, I would love to hear from others as well.

Give Thanks

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says that we are to give thanks in all circumstances because it is the will of God for us in Christ. It does not say that we are to give thanks for our circumstances. I’ve read this verse many times before, but something grabbed a hold of me today.

Although I understand the difference between giving thanks for circumstances and giving thanks in circumstances, I often find myself in struggling with my circumstances. Even though I do not give thanks for the tough things that come my way, I sometimes find myself focusing on the tough things while I am giving thanks.

Oops! This is a problem for me because I can’t really give thanks while focusing on bad things. Why? Because my heart is not in my thanksgiving. Ahhh, yes, this is a very important revelation for me and I trust that God will help me remember this in the future. That way, when I find myself consumed with negative things, I can push them aside and truly thank God for His goodness, His faithfulness, His grace and His mercy.

Not to beat a dead horse, but below is an excerpt from Mike's email he sent out earlier today. I also encourage you to post your questions here. There are SO many people that can help!

In Christ,
Clint Herman
