My Prayer Time

I have felt compelled for some time to share my prayers and talks with God with others. That is what this blog is for, and I hope God belsses you with these words. Of course, I would love to hear from others as well.

God Or Gold?

I was reading in Job today and came across a passage of Scripture that really spoke to me. It is Job 22:24-26.

24 If you lay gold in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brook [considering them of little worth],

25 And make the Almighty your gold and [the Lord] your precious silver treasure,

26 Then you will have delight in the Almighty, and you will lift up your face to God.

I have noticed over the last few weeks that my urge for spending free time pursuing my business endeavors has lessened dramatically. Months ago, I spent much of my free time working on my business. Then God spoke to me and told me there was a problem with this and I began to carve out more time to spend in the Word and in prayer.

As time went on, the urge to spend so much time working toward my business goals began to lessen. Now I know that the urge was unhealthy. It's not that spending time working on my business is wrong and it's not that I won’t have a business at some time. It's all a matter of honoring God to the point that I give Him all of my time and He gives me back what He wants.

There is no other way for me to be blessed in business or in anything else.

I am also reminded of the story of Joseph and Potiphar's wife found in Genesis 39. Verse 2 says that the Lord was with him and he prospered. Verses 3 and 4 say that his success caught the attention of his Egyptian master. Verse 5 says that God blessed Potiphar because of Joseph.

Now that's the favor of God, and that is the favor I want in all my endeavors.

In Christ,
Clint Herman
