My Prayer Time

I have felt compelled for some time to share my prayers and talks with God with others. That is what this blog is for, and I hope God belsses you with these words. Of course, I would love to hear from others as well.

Wait On God

Let’s say that a friend calls you on Mondays ands says, “Hey, I know you’ve been working hard and have not gone out and had fun in long time. Let me take you out on Friday. We’ll go out, relax, and see a movie. What do you say?” You think about it and then decide you will go.

All week long you think about Friday night and your anticipation grows with each day. It gets to the point of where you can’t stand it. By the time Friday rolls around, you are ready to get out and have some fun. I mean really ready. You get home from work and call your friend to touch base. He says he will pick you up, but doesn’t know exactly what time. He says it will probably be between 7 and 8.

The 1st thing you do is get ready. You take shower, put on some clean clothes, do your thing. Then 6:50 rolls around and you wait. You just want to get out and have some fun, so you can’t really focus on other things, so you just sit down on couch and wait. You trust your friend. You know he’s a man of his word, so he will be there. All you can do is wait. He shows up and you go out.

This is the image that comes to my mind when I think of waiting on God. As simple as this is, it’s a good way for me to understand what waiting on God means. You know that God is your source. You desire greatly to fellowship with Him and you have great anticipation in regards to this fellowship. You know God keeps His Word - He will show up, but you have to wait.

Maybe He will show up sometime between 7 and 8. Maybe it will be a little later. You cannot give up and find something else to do. If so, you will miss the knock at the door. Just sit there and wait on God. Be ready and remember there is One who sticks closer than a brother.

In Christ,
